Frequently Asked Questions : External Piano
How to connect my digital piano ?
If the digital piano has MIDI plugs with old format (two or three round plugs), buy an adaptator USB / MIDI. Warning: connect the OUT adapter in the IN piano (and the IN adaptator in the OUT piano).
If the digital piano has a USB connector, plug it directly on the computer.
Start Wizard Help menu if you are not sure for these next steps ... Otherwise, in Hardware Tab:
- Under Midi-In, select the Midi interface that is proposed (note that name).
- In the Midi-out section, select the same interface.
Too many notes on my piano
With the Expresseur, the piano must be in local-off mode (the notes played on the keyboard must not be played by the piano).
Verify that the digital piano supports local-off remotely through Midi (see piano documentation).
Make sure the check-box next to Local-Off is well validated in the Midi-out section of the Hardware tab.
If the digital piano does not support local-off mode, only the piano keyboard is usable with Expresseur:
cut the sound on the piano and use the digital piano sound synthesized by the Expresseur (Hardware tab, line SF2).
Nothing on my piano ...
Check the connection (see above).
Verify that you can play on Expresseur with the computer keyboard.
Make sure the main Expresseur window displays a small cross when you play on the piano (MIDI-In).
Make sure the Expresseur sees and plays notes (Menu view / keyboard).
Verify that the Partition selector is set (Users / Partition / Track x / Main selector ).
Activate the logs to see the traffic Midi (Tool Menu / log to start collecting, and again Tools menu / log to view the log).
