Frequently Asked Questions : VST
I can't see the VST
In main windows of Expresseur, menu View / VST.
VST not available on Mac
The library un4seen used in Expresseur does not support (yet) the VST on Mac.
Circumvention by a virtual MIDI connection with any other VST host: in Expresseur create a midi-out with the option "Midi-In virtual port."
This virtual port becomes visible as Midi-in any external VST host.
Tune the VST
Once the VST is tune like you want, use File menu: FXP save. This FXP file can be used when you want (in a score, etc ...) by inserting a "setting."
List of favorite settings
Create lists of settings under the VST section, with FXP files, volume, .... They will be accessible through the screens of settings with the "preset" button.
The volume (or pan) does not affect the VST.
Some VST do not respond to MIDI commands CTRL-7 (volume) or LTRC-10 (pan). Check the box under the VST to manage these settings by the audio mixer of Expresseur.
The VST does not work
Some VST require a relatively long delay to start.
To give the VST time to achieve this initialization before use,
increase the delay in the initialization settings of the VST, in the Hardware tab.
Some VST need several seconds, the time to load sounds in memory.
Other VST require lot of memory. If your computer is not enough powefull, this can lead to a blockage of the PC.
You can also try to test your VST within other VST host (miniHost, ...).
Notes "disappear"
When you play, there may be need to play simultaneously two notes of the same height.
Some VST does not support this option, even in multi-channel (eg VST Pianoteq before Version 2.3).
Solution : set all tracks on the same channel (1 for example)
and uncheck the option "optimize the MIDI channel extensions after loading " in the Hardware tab, section Settings.
